Karlsruhe Institute of Technology) is a public research university in Karlsruhe, Germany. The Institute is the National Research Center of the Helmholtz Society.

KIT was created in 2009 through the merger of the University of Karlsruhe, also known as “Fridericiana”, founded in 1825 as a public research university, and Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe, founded in 1956 as the National Center for Nuclear Research.
KIT is a member of TU9, the largest and most famous registration association of German technical universities.
