It is considered the “brain“ of the computer, responsible for carrying out all the instructions of a program. It is a highly versatile and efficient device that is used in almost all types of electronic devices from microwaves to iPhones.
The microprocessor was invented in 1971 by Intel Corporation. It was the first single–chip microprocessor, containing all the logic and memory needed for a computer. It was the first device to combine both memory and logic circuits into a single chip.
This single chip allowed for the development of the first personal computers. Since its invention, microprocessors have become increasingly powerful, faster, and more capable.
They are now capable of performing trillions of calculations per second. They are used in a wide variety of applications, including digital signal processing, video processing, audio processing, network communication, control systems, and scientific computing.
The microprocessor‘s ability to rapidly process information makes it an essential component of modern digital devices.
