From GATE 2021, Now there are three types of Questions:
(a) Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
(b) Multiple Select Questions (MSQs)
(c) Numerical Answer Type Questions (NATs)
Let’s discuss the types of questions one by one in detail.
(a) Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs):
In MCQs, there are four choices given for a question out of which only one is correct. There is negative marking in this question type. For 1 marks Question, -1/3 marks is deducted as negative marking and for 2 marks Question, -2/3 marks is deducted.
(b) Multiple Select Questions (MSQs):
In MSQs, there are four choices given for a question out of which one or more than one can be correct. There is no negative marking in this question type.
(c) Numerical Answer Type Questions (NATs):
In NATs, you have to answer in digits where your answer should be within a range. There is no negative marking in this question type.
